Congratulations to our very own Michael Dick for being named a finalist for the 2009 SXSW Web Awards. Mike has a very diverse style when it comes to web design; his personal site has always been an inspirational outlet for him, one that we all enjoy very much. We are keeping our fingers crossed, but we feel confident that Mike can win!
It is always nice when your work is noticed; it’s great to be among top talent. We are not big proponents of awards here at nclud; there just seems to be so many better ways to qualify yourself and your work – with happy clients for example. However, we felt strongly that Mike should submit his portfolio to showcase unique personal style that comes from young talent. That and it’s not everyday that a great design is built atop a custom built CMS from that same designer, a designer just 22. While we love beautiful visual design, sometimes it’s the beautiful code-behind that makes the front-facing aesthetic so amazing.

Also, another big congratulations to a friend of ours, Ali Felski, a talented Washington, D.C. based graphic designer. Ali is also a finalist for the 2009 SXSW web awards – good luck.

GeeksLoveBowling.com says bowling is the 14th when upcoming.org says it’s the 15th. Which is it?
Also, can someone confirm what Martin said?
Samantha and Nick, thanks for the support!

Samantha, as much as we’d love Mike to give his congratulatory speech, he might be out drinking with us — whether it be bowling or 6th street. I hear he can still win without actually attending the awards thingy.

Both Mike and Ali are great designers and deserve to be recognized for their work. Hopefully they both bring home some sort of award this year (and if Twitter wins “Best Blog” again, I’m going to hurt someone).
